We have celebrated the launch of inaugural flights to Malta from three bases recently, as more and more holidaymakers flock to the island.

First flights have taken off to Malta from London Stansted, Birmingham and Belfast International, meaning that we will operate to this beautiful destination from eight UK bases for Summer 18 (in addition to existing routes from East Midlands, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and Newcastle).

Including these brand new routes, we are growing capacity to Malta by 60% for Summer 18 – in direct response to strong customer demand. In total, there are almost 65,000 seats on sale to Malta, compared to 40,000 last summer.

As well as seeing strong bookings on the back of Valetta holding European Capital of Culture status in 2018, we are seeing more bookings from younger holidaymakers and we are working closely with Visit Malta to target this younger demographic.

Thanks to a variety of festivals and events, hosting some of the biggest DJs and acts around, Malta is enjoying a younger demographic visiting the island – in addition to the couples and families who have always flocked to Malta. Events such as Isle of MTV, Annie Mac Presents and Rock The South are proving extremely popular with younger holidaymakers.

Malta has been a huge success since we started operating flights and holidays to the island in 2015. This summer, we have 60 hotels on sale in resorts such as St Julian’s, St Paul’s Bay, Gozo, Qawra, Sliema, Mellieha and Valletta itself. These hotels range from 2* through to exclusive 5* properties via our ‘Indulgent Escapes’ brand.

Steve Heapy, CEO of and Jet2holidays said: “Malta has been a destination that has continued to grow and grow, and this success is seeing it become a firm favourite with Britons of all ages. As a result, we are delighted to be helping our colleagues at Visit Malta tell the story of the island and the huge range of fantastic offerings that it has for all British holidaymakers, whether that be year-round sunshine, stunning nature, live music or its rich culture and history.”

Malta Tourism Authority Executive Chairman Dr Gavin Gulia, said: “We welcome this latest step in’s operation and we recognise the airline’s importance as a vehicle for the further growth and development of British tourism to Malta. and Jet2holidays have worked hand in hand with the Maltese tourism authorities to grow in a sound and sustainable manner.  We congratulate on this latest expansion of its operation and we are fully committed to future collaboration to further strengthen’s presence in Malta.”

Malta International Airport CEO Alan Borg said: “We’re delighted that shares our belief that our island brims with potential as a tourist destination, and will be offering an enhanced summer schedule to our top market – the United Kingdom - with the introduction of these three new routes. Looking ahead, we hope that we can continue to work in close collaboration with this airline with the aim of offering more convenient connections to the United Kingdom even in the winter months.”
