Amsterdam’s International Documentary Film Festival is one of the world’s biggest non-fictional film festivals held annually in November since 1988. This year’s festival promises to be bigger and better than last year’s event and takes place from 16th – 27th November.

The Film Festival screens no fewer than 250 documentaries from all over the globe at Pathe de Munt and Pathe Tuschinski. Additional outdoor screenings also take place in the Rembrandtplein.

Since its arrival, the festival has become a key event for industry professionals as well as up and coming filmmakers as a networking forum. It has grown in stature and popularity over the years and last year the event attracted more than 100,000 documentary lovers.

Of course for the filmmakers it’s all about walking away with one of the coveted awards up for grabs. The best new documentaries of the year compete for five different awards.

Whether you want to visit the International Documentary Film Festival or simply are looking for a last minute winter break in one of Europe’s most exciting cities, cheap flights to Amsterdam are available at Flights go from Leeds Bradford all year round.
