Charity volunteers, youth workers, a son helping his dad and a massive Steps fan - Jet2holidays can today announce the nine finalists in the running to win the trip of a lifetime on their very own Party Plane.

The final nine have been chosen from thousands of entries to reach the final of our competition and are now in with a chance of winning the ultimate money can’t buy prize – a weekend in Majorca flying on their very own party plane with 99 of her friends and family, complete with celebrity guest Rylan Clark-Neal.

The nine finalists are as follows:

Lorraine Stevenson – “Roy and Lorraine Back to the Zoo”

Lorraine, 43, from Armagh, Northern Ireland submitted her entry to raise money for the Children’s Heartbeat Trust and Pretty ‘n’ Pink charities. Lorraine’s friend Shauna Cassidy‘s little boy Connor spent his first year in hospital after he was diagnosed with an atrioventricular septal defect. The Children’s Trust provided financial support and counselling to Conor’s family over the last 12 months. Lorraine’s friend Maria Kelly was diagnosed with breast cancer last October and has recently completed her chemotherapy. Pretty ‘n’ Pink have been supporting Maria, 41, who will be starting radiotherapy and hoping to join the Party Plane with Rylan.

If successful in winning, Lorraine and Roy will bring 100 guests of all ages to celebrate in Majorca, raising £5000 which will be split equally between the two charities.

Kirsty Mackay - “Fiesta Flamenca”

Kirsty, 32, from Gloucestershire submitted her entry to celebrate her engagement to partner-of-10-years Matt Shea. Matt, 33, asked Kirsty to marry him in Dubai on her birthday back in November, surprising her by getting a diver in the aquarium at the restaurant they were eating at, to hold up a sign with a message reading “Kirsty, will you marry me?” If Kirsty is successful in winning the trip of a lifetime, her and Matt, along with their friends and family will celebrate with a special Fiesta Flamenca Party, where Rylan would be the host of Planepool Karaoke.

Fiona Veerman – “Happy Landing”

Fiona, 51, from Edinburgh, submitted her celebrity-icon themed entry to celebrate and remember members of her family. Despite her family members reaching milestone birthdays in the last year, including an 18th, 21s, three 50ths, two 60ths, two 75th, and two weddings, the Veerman family never got around to celebrating. Fiona’s cousin, who turned 60 in July, was also hit with tragedy when her daughter was given just months to live after a huge battle with breast cancer. If successful in winning, Fiona and her guests will dress up as their favourite celebrity icon and listen to classic hits from the 80s.

Cathy (and Samuel) Kelly – “Samuel Kelly”

Cathy Kelly submitted her entry on behalf of her 10-year-old Samuel who wanted to make his dad Rob smile after undergoing gruelling treatment for cancer. Rob, 47, was diagnosed with Follicular Lymphoma in 2013 and underwent emergency life-saving treatment. His first chemotherapy treatment took place on the day when he and his family should have been flying to Florida for a holiday. After months of gruelling chemotherapy Rob was given the all clear at the end of 2013. He now has check ups every six to nine months and says the support of his family has got him through. If successful in winning, Cathy and Samuel will fill the aircraft with all of those friends and family, nurses and doctors that visited Rob while he was ill, made him better, and were there for the family as well.

Gillian Paterson - “Gillz Steptacular Pink Dream”

Gillian, 31, from Glasgow, submitted her entry to spend some quality time with her family and friends after undergoing two life-saving kidney transplants. Gillian was diagnosed with renal failure when she was just 8-years-old. She had her first kidney transplant when she was 12. The transplant lasted 16 years, allowing her to complete her studies at both school and college, but in 2015, she was given the devastating news that the kidney was failing. She underwent gruelling haemodialysis treatment three days a week for four hours each day. In October 2017, Gillian received the news she had been waiting for and another kidney match had been found for her. If successful in winning the competition, Gillian says having 90s pop group Steps perform on the Party Plane would be the icing on the cake.

Holly Schofield - “Jet back 2 1969”

Holly, 25, from Hull, submitted her entry to celebrate both her mum, Nicola, and her mother-in-law, Moira’s 50th birthdays. If successful in winning the trip of a lifetime, Holly and her guests will celebrate the year her mum and mother-in-law were born with some spectacular soundtracks. Holly burst into tears when she received the news her entry had made it to the final and says it would be the best way to say thank you to the two ladies in her life who have done so much for her.

Kirsty Connor - “Just Plane Lucky”

Kirsty, 35, submitted her entry with a theme of great friendship and fortune after setting up an online friendship group while she was on maternity leave. While group members, who are based all over the country, have never met, they have struck up firm friendships, supporting each other through the most difficult times, including struggles with mental health. The Lucky Learners group would love to jet off to Majorca and celebrate their friendship with lucky charm decorations and a pop-tastic soundtrack

Leanne Risk - “Majorca’s Memory Maker”

Leanne, 35, from Newcastle, submitted her entry to reward her youth worker colleagues who work tirelessly to improve the lives of young people. Leanne says it would be nice to give something back to her colleagues who work so hard, putting others before themselves. If successful in winning the competition, Leanne, her friends and family, along with families she supports would celebrate in true Disney style, dressing as their favourite Disney characters and boarding their own aircraft before listening to soundtracks from all the Disney films.

Tracy Price - “Supersonic Superstars”

Tracy, 51, from Essex, submitted her entry to celebrate and reward the hardworking charity volunteers at children’s hearty charity ECHO. If successful in winning the trip of a lifetime, Tracy’s aircraft will be filled full of volunteers who have all gone that extra mile to help others. ECHO supports children and young people with heart conditions and their families, who’ve been treated by Evelina London Children’s Hospital networks. Congenital heart disease (CHD) is the most common birth defect affecting just under 1 in every 100 babies born in the UK.

Families are supported at every stage of their heart child’s journey through childhood, teenage years and during the transition to adult services.

We launched our Party Plane competition to celebrate the arrival of our 100th aircraft into our fleet. Jet2holidays colleagues toured the UK calling on party-goers to get creative and choose their own party theme to enter the competition.

The nine finalists were chosen by Rylan himself.

He said: “I was absolutely blown away by the thousands of entries Jet2holidays received. It was really hard to whittle it down to just nine finalists as the standard of entries was so high.

“I would like to say a huge congratulations to all the finalists and wish them lots of luck. I can’t wait to get on board and join the lucky winner and their friends and family for a weekend of celebrating in sunny Majorca. It’s going to be an unforgettable trip.”

The winning VIP group will jet off from one of our nine UK bases on Friday 26th April and head to the 4-star Melia Calvia Beach in Majorca for the weekend, where they will make memories to last a lifetime.

The general public can now vote for their favourite entry by visiting partyplane.jet2holidays.com. Voting will remain open until 6pm on Wednesday 3rd April.

The winner will be announced on Thursday 4th April.
