On last night’s instalment of the BBC prime time series, Young Apprentice, teenage candidates pitched to Leeds based leading leisure airline, Jet2.com.

Young Apprentice

Last night’s nail-biting penultimate episode saw Alan Sugar’s most competitive teenage entrepreneurs pitch innovative new popcorn flavours as the next big thing for inflight snacks, in an attempt to get them on the airline’s trolley service.

Two teams made up of the best young business brains in Britain, were joined by no-nonsense adviser Nick Hewer and top businesswoman Karren Brady, when they visited Leeds Bradford International Airport in the summer to pitch their unique flavoured popcorn to Jet2.com‘s Retail Director, Paul Humphreys and Buying Manager, Kirsty Crowther.

Paul Humphreys commented: “We are always looking for exciting and innovative new products to enhance our customers’ flight experience, so this task was very relevant and, therefore, a very real experience for the candidates. As we offer inflight entertainment units on our flights, the idea of selling popcorn fits well with being able to watch a blockbuster movie from the comfort of your aircraft seat.

“We were very impressed by the two teams presenting skills, they pitched two different flavoured popcorn snacks and had carefully considered our core values, which was great to see. The product samples were quite different from any popcorn we have tasted before.

“It was a pleasure to listen to the pitch and to see the passion and belief in the products they put forward. From what we saw, there are some bright futures ahead for the candidates and we are pleased to have helped them in their journey so far. It’s been a few months since the filming so we are now relieved to be able to talk about our involvement and look forward to seeing who will win!”

Throughout the series, which began in October, ten young candidates complete tough tasks as they vie to become Lord Sugar’s next young apprentice, and win up to £25,000 to kick start their chosen career.
